Himalayan pilgrims survive miraculous helicopter emergency landing
Six pilgrims in India miraculously escaped injury when the helicopter they were traveling in lost control and crash landed next to a helipad. The pilgrims were headed to Kedarnath temple, one of the twelve jyotirlinga (manifestations) of Hindu Lord Shiva and part of the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit in the Himalayas. The helicopter encountered a ‘technical snag’ with its tail rotor and lost control, spinning wildly as the pilot desperately tried to regain control and land. While he could not regain control, he was alert and composed enough to make a successful emergency landing on the grass next to the helipad, precariously sloping away from the helipad.
All seven occupants were unharmed and the pilgrims were able to complete their visit to Kedarnath, although their prayers probably took on a more immediate character than they might otherwise have expected. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the incident, while local District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar praised the pilot for averting a potential catastrophe.

Former MP hangs Palestinian flags on Rome’s Chamber of Deputies
A former Green MP in Italy has made a one-man stand against Israel’s war in Gaza, expressing his solidarity with the Palestinian people. Stefano Apuzzo was filmed climbing out of the window of the Chamber of Deputies in Rome, and hanging two Palestinian flags from the balcony railings. He was also heard shouting ‘Stop Italian arms for the genocide in Gaza’ before returning inside.
Explaining his protest afterwards, Apuzzo condemned the war between Israel and Hamas, calling for an immediate ceasefire. He also slammed what he saw as Italy’s involvement in the war, citing state-owned defense manufacturers Oto Melara and Leonardo’s arms production for the region.
Fellow Green Party member and alliance leader Luana Zanella praised Apuzzo for his actions. ‘While several European countries recognize the state of Palestine and the Italian government remains silent, Apuzzo reminds us that a ceasefire is needed,’ she told reporters.

Emotional Vucic as UN votes on Srebrenica commemoration day
This was the moment Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic heard the result of the United Nations vote: July 11 will now be the annual day of remembrance for the victims of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre. The resolution, proposed by Germany and Rwanda, was approved with 84 votes in favor, 19 against, and 68 abstentions. The new ‘International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica,’ will remember the over 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys who were killed by units of the Bosnian-Serb military, under the command of Ratko Mladic.
Vucic, however, condemned the resolution, arguing it unfairly targets Serbia and its people, and warned that the resolution could lead to further divisive measures. He also questioned why similar resolutions have never been passed for Serb victims of genocide. Vucic has always sought a ‘policy of reconciliation’ over Srebrenica, has never questioned the genocide charges against Mladic and others, and has condemned it as ‘a horrible crime,’ but has fallen short of acknowledging the events as genocide.
Culpability for the massacre has always been a controversial question, and while many call it a Serbian genocide, others have vehemently denied this, or even called Mladic a hero. While the International Court of Justice recognized the Srebrenica massacre as genocide in 2007, it found Serbia was not directly responsible, although failed to prevent it. Judging from the quite visible emotion on Vucic’s face as the result of the vote was announced, he certainly doesn’t think the world will hold such a balanced view.

Spain’s deputy PM ends speech with ‘Palestine will be free’ slogan
Spain’s deputy prime minister has drawn criticism from Jewish commentators after ending a speech with the words, ‘Palestine will be free from the river to the sea.’ Yolanda DÃaz, who also serves as Labor and Social Policy minister, delivered a video address following Spain’s announcement that it would recognize the state of Palestine, and ended with the pro-Palestine slogan.
The Israeli embassy in Spain has slammed the speech, writing on X that it ‘completely rejects Yolanda DÃaz’s statement,’ calling it ‘anti-Semitic.’ The Federation of Spanish Jewish Communities, meanwhile, accused DÃaz of ‘encouraging hatred and rejection’ towards Jews.
During her speech, DÃaz accused Israel of ‘barbarism’ and called for the European Union to be pressured to ‘end its agreements and treaties with Israel.’ Spain, along with Ireland and Norway, will officially recognize the Palestinian state starting May 28.

Why, none other than guests of honor, Azov Battalion, the Nazi insignia wearing, Nazi worshiping neo-Nazis that Ukraine definitely doesn’t have. Britain has an election coming up soon, so let’s all see if the ‘let’s make world peace by arming the Nazis’ will be a vote-winning policy.

Indian police drive into hospital to make Bollywood-style arrest
He thought he was safe from the cops on the third floor. He was wrong.
Satish Kumar, a nursing officer, had been administering his hands in the wrong places at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Places like a junior female doctor, with the doctor filing a molestation complaint against Kumar. News of Kumar’s less-than-healing hands quickly reached other staff members, who went on strike demanding Kumar be immediately fired. Instead, his fate would be more dramatic.
In rolled the cops, quite literally, driving right onto the ward to make the arrest like something out of a Bollywood movie. The incident, captured in a 26-second video that has gone viral on social media, shows policemen clearing a path through the crowded ward, moving aside equipment and patients alike to make way for the vehicle, while the driver slowly edged down the hospital like he was suffering from a terminal case of badassery. Kumar was arrested. He didn’t really have much choice.
Not everyone is happy, though. For a start, is it all that sanitary to drive a police SUV directly into a ward? Many users on social media think not. Nor do they think the response was remotely proportionate, justified or wise. But it was cool.
